The StarMOBILE system supports the new controller area network (CAN) electrical vehicle architecture.
It replaces the Co-Pilot customer flight recorder, which will be unable to support the new vehicle launches starting in mid 2005.
What problem was/is solved in building this tool?
The Co-Pilot device sat on the shelf until it was needed to solve an intermittent vehicle problem. Because the StarMOBILE system is a general-purpose tool, it can be employed full time by the service technician. The StarMOBILE system allows wireless communication with the vehicle in the dealership, permitting a much more effective pass-through model for the tool.
StarMOBILE system's benefits over other products?
Supported vehicles.
The StarMOBILE system will support all Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge CAN vehicles, including 2004 Durango, 2005 Durango, 300C, Magnum, Dakota, Grand Cherokee, and most 2006 model year vehicles. Support may be broadened in the future to include older vehicles as well.
Refer to the "Vehicle to Diagnostic Tool Reference Chart".
StarMOBILE core hardware consists of a Motorola 400 MHz MPC5200 PowerPC processor with 64MB of RAM and internal compact flash file support. The small rugged enclosure, ideal for use by dealership technicians, allows data to be collected while the vehicle is being operated.
